Working closely with a strong architectural vision, we set out to create a functional, welcoming home for our hardworking, down-to-earth clients. Their dream was to return to New Zealand and give their family the kind of upbringing they themselves had cherished—and this home was designed to make that vision a reality. Leaning into a rural palette of chocolate timber floors, stained cedar walls throughout. Maximising the spaced with good bathroom storage and spaces with impact to support furniture pieces that were collected from their time in the East. The Process
Creating this home was a true collaboration between the Twill design team, the architect, and the client. From the initial concept sketches through to the final walk-through, every detail was considered to ensure the exterior and interior worked in harmony.
Early Design Workshops
We began with a series of design workshops to understand how the clients wanted to live in the space — what mattered most to them day-to-day, and how we could reflect that in the finishes and layout.
Material Selection
Choosing the right materials was key to achieving the warm yet modern look. The cedar cladding was carefully sourced and treated to age gracefully over time, while the crisp architectural features add a sense of structure and sophistication.
Bringing the Vision to Life
We believe good design should feel effortless. For this project, that meant managing every element — big and small — to ensure the final home looked and felt exactly as the client envisioned.
Attention to Detail
From the placement of each exterior panel to the soft landscaping surrounding the home, our team worked closely with builders and trades to deliver flawless results.
Finishing Touches
With the exterior complete, the final styling layered in texture and subtle contrasts, tying the overall design together. The end result is a home that feels warm, welcoming, and deeply connected to its surroundings — exactly as the clients had imagined.
