The entrance is both vast and welcoming, with a sculptural staircase sweeping you upstairs to expansive views. The palette blends blonded timbers and natural stone with subtle hints of green, creating a calm and grounded atmosphere that beautifully reflects the essence of the family who calls it home. Every space has been thoughtfully designed to feel warm and inviting, with natural light, layered textures, and timeless finishes combining to create a peaceful flow throughout. In the bathrooms, soft travertine is used in both large-format slabs and delicate hexagonal tiles, adding depth and refinement. Luxurious wool carpets offer comfort underfoot, while every detail has been considered to provide a nurturing environment for a growing family through their formative years.

The Process
This project was shaped by our clients’ brief to do something different from their previous showhomes, while working with the coastal environment and leaning into the relaxed way of living in Papamoa, Bay of Plenty. Harwood Homes have been in the industry for many years and are known for their quality builds, so it was important that the interior reflected both their craftsmanship and a fresh new direction.
Early Design Workshops
As with all our projects, the process was highly collaborative from the outset. We began by curating a visual moodboard that captured ideas and references gathered through early conversations with the client. These discussions explored not only how each space needed to function, but also how the home should feel.
Material Selection
Material selection was key to anchoring the overall style and creating a home that felt fresh, inviting and reflective of a new way of living. We introduced materials, textures and finishes that brought warmth, interest and personality, while highlighting different ways a home can support modern coastal living.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Understanding the client’s vision was at the heart of every decision. Through careful attention to their preferences, lifestyle and target market, we shaped spaces that would connect with a wide range of generations. The result is a calm, considered environment that illustrates how a home can feel relaxed and contemporary, while still offering comfort, character and a strong sense of personality.
Attention to Detail
Working closely with every trade, from the kitchen designer and builder to the tiler, we ensured that each detail was carefully considered and thoughtfully executed. This collaborative approach helped bring consistency and cohesion to the overall design.
Finishing Touches
We were fortunate to collaborate with House Couture to style the home, layering in modern furnishings and accessories that completed the spaces and brought the overall vision to life.
