Light and Bright
An extensive refurbishment of an existing dwelling, this project was driven by a client with a clear vision to unlock the full potential of its prime position. Ceilings were raised to create a greater sense of volume, while a bright, fresh palette leans into a relaxed coastal feel—highlighted by crisp blue tiles in the bathrooms. Every space was maximised to ensure thoughtful storage, accommodating family gatherings and future visits from grandchildren. The design also provides a considered backdrop for a treasured art collection, allowing each piece to shine. Original solid tawa timber flooring was retained and restored, honouring the era of the home while seamlessly blending past and present.

The Process
This project was shaped by a client with a strong sense of style and a clear vision - knowing what resonated while remaining open to exploration and discovery along the way. A curated collection of art, treasured objects, and distinctive furniture pieces became the springboard for the design direction
Early Design Workshops
As with all our projects, the process was highly collaborative from the outset. We began by curating a visual moodboard that captured ideas and references gathered through early conversations with the client, discussing not only how the spaces should function but also how they should feel.
Material Selection
Material selection was key to transforming the home’s modest early 2000s bones into a space that felt layered and lived in, integrating the client’s cherished furniture and collected treasures. We created a cohesive connection between these differing styles by embracing warm, bold paint colours, rich chocolatey tones, and natural materials with texture. The result is a layered, timeless interior with a contemporary edge - a careful nod to both old and new.
Bringing the Vision to Life
Understanding the client’s vision was at the heart of every choice. Through careful attention to their preferences and lifestyle, we shaped a space that feels deeply personal - layered and expressive, capturing the client’s individuality while balancing modern comforts with character.
Attention to Detail
Working closely with every trade - from the kitchen designer and builder to the tiler - we ensured that every detail was carefully considered and executed.
Finishing Touches
We were fortunate to collaborate with the client on the finishing touches, from window treatments to bedding, allowing the design to extend beyond the hard finishes and truly feel complete. The most rewarding moment came when the client moved in, and their carefully collected treasures found their place - the very pieces that had inspired the design from the very beginning.
